Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge is located 120 kilometers (75 miles) southwest from Iquitos city, on the banks of Maranon river, at a short distance from
the National Pacaya Samiria Reserve.
Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge is one of the most exclusive lodges in the Peruvian Amazon and a heaven for visitors in search of a quiet retreat. From
this unique place, our guests can visit the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, which is the largest protected natural area in Peru.
Surrounded by abundant rainforest, Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge has been built in accordance with the architecture of the zone and offers comfortable
bungalows with private bathroom and terrace with view to the river. Connecting elevated walkways lead to our club-house, dining room, hammock room,
watch-towers and hiking paths.
Meals: At our restaurant, visitors can enjoy international and regional cuisine, as well as bar service. Meals consist of soups and appetizers,
salads, main course, pasta, dessert, fresh fruits, coffee or tea. We provide also drinking water to our visitors.
Electricity: Electricity is only available at night. Schedule from 6pm. to 11pm.
Others: We do have a library and a small boutique with hancrafted items and souvenirs.
PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE
The Amazon river is 6,470 km (4,020 miles) long and the world´s mightiest river. The Amazon Basin has the longest extension of rainforest in the world
and is considered a patrimony of humanity by UNESCO due to the biological diversity it contains. The beauty of this areas, as well its biological
richness, have made of Peru a destiny for wildlife researchers and nature lovers. The Reserve has a great diversity of wildlife as well as aquatic
life: 449 bird species, 102 mammals, 69 reptiles, 58 amphibians, 256 fish and 1,204 plants. Threatened or endangered species that can be found in the
PSNR are the jaguar (Felix oca), the black alligator (Melanosuchus niger), the giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), the manati (Trichechus
inunquis), four different species of primates and two different species of turtles.
OUR VISITS
Tours from 3 to 6 days, depending on your particular interests and time available. Tariffs include bus and riverboat transfers, lodging, meals,
entrance fee to the Reserve and guided excursions.
Only place where the Amazon River is appraised in all its greatness.
Groups are limited to a maximum of 12 guests per boat to allow a closer and better appreciation of nature. Excursions are conducted by bilingual
guides with experience in ecotourism and also by local guides.
Our staff is well trained in first aid techniques.
Transportation is comfortable in boats with roof and life jackets.
The lodge and transportation units have a direct communication system by short wave radio with the city of Iquitos.
WEATHER
The climate in the Reserve is tropical, warm and humid with minimum temperatures of 72 Fº (22 Cº) and maximum temperatures that can reach up to 88 Fº
(28 Cº), except for the month of June in which the temperature can drop abruptly due to the action of the cold fronts that come from the Argentinean
Patagonia. Generally, dawns and nights in the jungle tend to be fresh. It can rain on any day of the year, being showers more frequent between the
months of February and May.
ANY OF THE TOURS INCLUDES:
- The guide will pick your passengers up from our counter in the Airport and take them in nice buses to the port.
- Visitors will sail by the Amazon River using comfortable and safe speed boats.
- The lodge and transportation units have a direct communication system by short wave radio with the city of Iquitos.
- Visitors can feel safe to drink purified water during the whole trip.
- In the restaurant, our guests will enjoy international and regional dishes, as well as the bar service. The food consists mainly of a soup, salad or
appetizer, the main course, spaguetties, desert, fresh fruits, coffe or tea. Also we provide our guests purify water to drink. If there are
vegetarians in the group please let us know in advance.
- Relax after the excursions in private bungalows with their own bathroom and terrace with a hammock facing the river.
- Guided nocturnal and day excursions to look for animals.
- Expert bilingual naturalist guide from the area in charge of small groups.
- Visit small and remote local villages to see how different life style the jungle people have.
- We count with a ecologic library for those visitors that want to increase their knowleage about the jungle and a boutique of different articles.

* We recommend to bring one piece of luggage and to limit its weight to 15 kg (32 pounds).
VACCINATIONS
It is recommended to be vaccinated againts yellow fever; however it is not mandatory.
