:: ITINERARY

DAY 01: CITY TOUR COLONIAL
Arrival to Ayacucho City. Pick up and transfer to your hotel.
Sightseeing Tour, including the Main Square, one of the largest and most beautiful in the country;and the Cathedral, with its magnificent main and side altars,decorated with beautiful gold leaf carvings, especially its pulpit which is one of the most notable in the City. Visit also the University of Huamanga; the Church of Santo Domingo, a one-nave church in the shape of a Latin cross, with its magnificent dome and Baroque altars; La Merced, with some marvellous oil paintings and La Magdalena. Then, a visit to the Monastery of Santa Teresa, which contains one of the most extraordinary Baroque altars in Peru; the Mirador of Acuchimay; the Santa Ana Handicraft Quarter and old Colonial mansions such as the Casa Olano and Casa de Jauregui y Vivanco.

DAY 02: WARI - QUINUA
- Breakfast in the hotel.
After breakfast, a visit to the Wari ruins, 22 km. from the City. This was the Capital of the first of the pre-Hispanic Andean Empire and is an incredible complex of streets, squares, stone tombs, paths and irrigation channels, food depositories and stone structures. The tour continues with a visit to the Town of Quinua, 35 km. from Ayacucho; known for its churches built from mud bricks ("adobe"). In the Main Square there is a museum where the Surrender of Ayacucho was signed, sealing South American freedom from the Spaniards. Later a visit to "La Pampa de la Quinua", surrounded by a eucalyptus forest. This Plain is a National Historic Sanctuary, as the Battle of Ayacucho, the final battle of the Wars of American Liberation from the Spaniards was fought here. Return to the hotel.

DAY 03: HUANTA VALLEY
- Breakfast in the hotel.
The Huanta Valley is located at 50 kilometers from Ayacucho. It is known as "Esmeralda de los Andes" for its favorable location and rich biodiversity in flora and fauna. In this valley it can see many ecological steps from jungle to snowy peaks. It has warm weather, characterized by its big vegetation, colorful landscapes and places. They emphasize its church of baroque architectonic, the convent of Redentoristas (gothic style).
The Valley of Huanta is famous for its liquors of fruit and bee honey. We will observ the snow peak of Rasuhuillka, its wonderfull lakes, stones in a forest imagen and water falls.
In the way we visit the Pikimachay Caves, on the 25 Km. of the road to Huanta. It is a natural rocky shelter of volcanic origin at the end of the era tertiary and the beginnings of the quaternary age. Visit to La Vega and Macachacra.

DAY 04: AYACUCHO OUT
- Breakfast in the hotel.
At the proper time, transfer to the bus terminal or to the airport.
